Dear Gracy: Can I feed my babies/kids Quinoa?

5th September 2017

Dear Gracy,

A few of my friends were talking about cooking quinoa for their babies and kids, but I’m very skeptical. Can I really feed my kids Quinoa? What benefit does it have for my kids?

Best,
Eileen

Dear Eileen,

Yes, you can feed your kids Quinoa!

Quinoa is great for babies and kids because it is high in vitamins and minerals that are essential for their early developing years. Quinoa is full of…

Iron, necessary for good brain development
Calcium, helps bone growth
Magnesium, supports the immune system/maintain nerve and muscle function
Omega 3, 6, 9 fatty acids, good for brain and eye development
B group vitamins (Riboflavin, Niacin, Thiamin, etc), essential for production and release of energy

Among many other vitamins and minerals!

Quinoa is also very high in fibre, which helps babies and kids to digest their food and poop it out. Quinoa is also high in protein and is a complete protein, which means that it is higher in essential amino acids and nutrients than any other common cereals.

All in all, Quinoa is one of the best foods you can give to your babies and kids. 🙂

Note: Kids can start eating Quinoa from the age of 6-8months.

Your Superfriend,
Gracy
