Dear Gracy: Losing Weight with Quinoa

Dear Gracy,

I’ve been overweight and have struggled with weight issues for as long as I can remember. Recently, I’ve started going to the gym 6 times a week, but sadly my weight has not changed and I don’t see much of a difference. I’m starting to be discouraged… Please help me!

Dear Joy,

Losing weight is a slow process that requires consistency and discipline. It’s all about changing your lifestyle, mainly through diet and exercise. It’s already great that you’re exercising regularly! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t see changes as of yet. Keep sticking to it!

On another note, as much as you exercise, it is important to eat a healthy diet too. It’s a waste to exercise a lot when on the side you’re still eating lots of junk, processed, sugary, fried foods. YOU HAVE TO GET RID OF YOUR BAD EATING HABITS TO SUCCEED IN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY!

Losing weight involves 80% Diet, 20% Exercise.

Here are 2 simple tips to eat healthier and lose weight:

1. Throw out all the junk food you have at home!
You are not likely to eat junk at home if you don’t have junk at home.
Throw out anything processed, anything with lots of chemicals, anything high in sugar, any bad carbohydrates (white bread, white pasta, etc). Stock up on natural foods instead!

2. Eat more Quinoa!
Quinoa is full of vitamins, minerals, protein and fibre. The vitamins and minerals keep you strong and healthy, the protein and fibre helps you with weight loss. Quinoa will help detoxify your body naturally and release all the waste from your body (goodbye constipation!). Quinoa will also keep you full for a long period of time and if you exercise a lot, it will actually help you to recover and develop your muscles. You can use quinoa to replace all your bad carbs, specifically white rice. It has far more benefits but the texture is still very similar to rice!
