What is the difference between cacao and cocoa powder?
People are generally confused between cacao and cocoa powder. The difference lies in the way they are being processed.
Raw cacao powder is cold pressed and has minimal processing and most of the studies that talks about the health benefits of chocolate such as high antioxidant, lowers blood pressure, prevents diabetes, weight control refers to raw cacao.
Cocoa starts the same way cacao does which is harvesting the beans from the plant’s seed pods. However, during processing, it is heated at much higher temperatures, which resulted in a slightly sweeter flavor and change in molecule structure and hence degraded nutrients.
Our Cacao Powder is of the finest grade known as Criollo. The cocoa beans are cold pressed from organically grown criollo cocao, pollutant free area from South America with no chemical processing or sugar added. Our cacao has 21 times more antioxidantsthan green tea and 30 times more antioxidantsthan red wine.
Cacao contains soluble dietary fibre which keeps you full for a longer time and chroium which regulates blood sugars naturally. Chromium improves body composition by increasing lean body weight or decreasing body fat leading to overall weight loss.
Cacao has a rich bitter chocolatey taste and can be easily added into drinks or as a healthier replacement for cocoa.
