Quinoa – The Must have for Vegan Diet
In the previous article, we talked about the importance of complete protein. Complete protein can be found mainly in meat and eggs and plant based complete protein is extremely rare. This is critical for vegan to know since meat and eggs are not part of the diet.
Unusal among plant based food, our asian quinoa is actually extremely high in complete protein which makes it a nutritious substitute for meat. This is a great news for vegan or vegetarian who would otherwise have to take supplements to make up for the lack of essential amino acids in their diet. Since our body arent able to produce essential amino acids, it is important that we get them from food.
Known as the mother of grain, quinoa shot to fame due to its dense nutrition and rare plant based complete protein. Some people were since against eating quinoa as they argue that it is so expensive that some of the poorer people in South America can no longer afford it.
However, the vegan community has also voiced out about the fact that eating quinoa might harm some farmers in south ameria but eating meat harms the world.
