5 Simple Ways to Detox Besides Juicing!

Untitled Document

We all love juices, but relying on juices as a meal replacement is not practical for a variety of reasons.

For starters, when you juice your fruits and vegetables, you’re actually removing the healthy fiber needed in your body. And for those who purchase their juices from a store, there is a chance they added sneaky sugar in it to keep your juice tasty. Hence, all you end up is drinking sugared water that does not benefit your body.

Hence, it is best to keep to your detox plans with these 5 easy ways instead!

1. Drink sufficient amount of water

You should know this by heart – drink at least 8 cups of water each day. The water will help flush out all the toxins and rehydrate yourself. When your body is hydrated, you will have less cravings.

Pro Tip: What we love to do is cut a slice of lemon and add in with a cup of warm water every morning, something simple that you can add to your routine too!

2. Add protein into your meals

Yes, protein. If you’re loaded with too much carbs (rice, white bread, potatoes etc.), your body will start to feel lethargic and bloated very quickly. Substitute with protein ingredients like quinoa, green veggies and legumes so that you will feel better plus it makes you fuller longer.

3. Eat slowly

Don’t rush through your meals. Take your time and savour each meal. When you eat too fast, it doesn’t give your body enough time to recgonise that its full. When you eat slowly regularly, you’ll find yourself wanting to eat lesser meals.

4. Drink tea

If you find yourself struggling to drink water, why not try drinking tea instead. A common favourite is green tea, chamomile or ginger tea which all promotes healthy digestion in your body. You’ll feel less bloated and gets your body back to 100% again!

5. Avoid bad oils

Stay away from palm oil and vegetable oil as these oils are mostly saturated which can raise your cholesterol levels. Replace it with good oils, such as extra-virgin olive oil, coconut oil, canola oil etc. The combination of healthy fats plus some oil like Canola oil is rich in omega-3s.

These tips are especially useful for the upcoming festivities such as Hari Raya and Father’s Day! Keep in mind that while you should enjoy the food you eat, too much of the bad stuff will end up deteriorating your health.

Hence, detox once every week so your system remains clear of toxins and you feel great every day!
